Series dedicated to informing employees about potential cyber threats
The IT department at my company was dealing with ongoing cyber threats and needed a way to communicate to employees the seriousness of the issue. Research revealed that cyber crime was a topic that most people avoid paying attention to for various reasons; difficulty in understanding the subject matter, feelings that it couldn’t happen to them, and fear of the unknown. As an art director and designer, I developed multiple campaigns, each with a year-long shelf-life.
Year 1 – Movie Poster Series
The first concept developed was an illustrative poster series to break through to the employee, putting them as victims in their very own cyber suspense movie. The designs used simple, bold graphics and tri-tone colors, inspired by 1950/60s Saul Bass posters for Hitchcock suspense films. Posters were intended to motivate employees to take them as souvenirs, as an ongoing reminder of cyber security. The initial set was so successful, it spawned an ongoing monthly poster on the topic.
Year 2 – Humanity Concept
The second concept was a photographic-based series using striking imagery of people, in order to grab the viewers attention and hit home the humanity behind cyber crime. The concept includes a series within a series featuring multiple posters just on the topic of identity theft. The client liked the second concept as well, and ran the series at the same time and independently of the movie poster series.
